Atmospheric listening piece in binaural 3D audio for headphones, 48 Stunden Neukölln “Boom”
“K.J. Boom” is a radio play parody inspired by news agency propaganda and late-night shows. Detonations, rocket trajectories, the rush of fire and mushroom clouds collide with sweet temptation, dissipating into surreal mists of intoxicating sonic horizons. Voices that pop up unexpectedly in the acoustic hemisphere enter into a reckless dialogue and merge with boom beats and noise. Originally conceived as an atmospheric multi-channel listening theatre for up to ten loudspeakers and a live audience, the project was reimagined as a virtual production in a 3D audio stream for headphone listening – a response to the social distancing requirements of the pandemic.
