Surround Sound Live Listening Theatre, 48 Stunden Neukölln”Futur III”, performed at the Helene Nathan Library, Berlin

Sounds, tones, voices, noises, fragments of speech, movement and words in space, in relation to nothingness – simultaneously interacting with the audience. The centre, ever to be renegotiated, is a circular area in a curved orbit. It invites a re-experiencing of a utopia that was never realised, and poses its questions: Is the earth a disc, and eternity round like the face of a clock? – 0/12 o’clock: present tense; 2 o’clock: future I; 4 o’clock: future II; 6 o’clock: future III / double pluperfect; 8 o’clock: pluperfect; 10 o’clock: perfect; 12 o’clock: imperfect – Einstein knew it already: moving clocks run slow, and the day does not begin again – it is a different day. So future III and the double pluperfect meet like counter-rotating neutrons in a particle accelerator, exploding in near-completion of the number π and releasing senseless thoughts. Ideas in orbit, space debris, vast quantities of dead satellites threatening the closure of the future, waiting only to be thought again, to burn up or to crash and destroy.

A listening piece with interactive live performance by Boris Alexander Knop, Thomas Franke and Bodo Hartwig
